INTRODUCTION 

The course consists of a 5-year integrated program based on four themes namely Human, Cells, Community, and Personal and Professional Development. Teaching and learning activities are based on systems of the body and not the traditional segregation of the field of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, and microbiology. The integrated medical program covers the cardiovascular system, digestive system and others, in which incorporates all the relevant basic medical sciences and clinical disciplines.

The curriculum emphasizes on student-centered learning with early identification of clinical experience. The curriculum includes exposure to community and public health, as well as an emphasis on behavioral science, communication skills and professional development. The research methodology and experience is a key component in the curriculum, while comprehensive clinical teaching ensures that students get sufficient clinical experience to become knowledgeable and skilled doctors.

Aims:

  • To produce a trained, caring and competent doctors with sufficient knowledge and ability to work in a team·
  • To entrench a conscientious and compassionate attitude toward the sick and the general public to meet the needs of the individual and the nation·  
  • To inculcate awareness on the legal and ethical responsibility of a doctor·      
  • To inculcate the culture and the importance of continuing medical education for life

CAREER

Doctors are compulsory to undergo housemanship for two years after completing their Medical Degree. Doctors will gain full registration with the MMC with pre-registration training post of Medical Officer that was given by the Malaysian Government in the Government Hospital in the last 3 years before being allowed to work with private agencies. After the successful completion of pre-registration, the doctor will be supervised in any facilities such as hospitals, district hospitals, public clinics or private clinics.
