Event Summary
Every 75 seconds a crash is reported in Malaysia, and we lose a live every two hours. Car occupants are the second largest contributor in terms of road fatalities yearly and we have lost more than 1560 children (2007-2017) age below 10 years on the road from a preventable injury. For a safe travel for children in a car, they need a correctly installed child restraint system which can reduce deaths among infants by about 70%, deaths among children aged 1-4 years old by 54% and for children age 4-7 years, booster seats reduce significant clinical injuries by 59%. This session will look at Child Restraint System as a Vaccine to prevent injuries for children travelling in a car with both global and national perspectives and answering the questions on WHAT, WHY, WHEN, WHERE and HOW on CRS.
