Date
17 Sep 2019 - 17 Sep 2019
Time
09.45 - 11.30
Location
Mini Auditorium Hospital Pengajar UPM (HPUPM)
Event Summary
Initially conceived to describe stages of drug development the two translational gaps (bench -T1- bedside -T2- clinical practice) are only half the story. In the context of applied healthcare research, the focus is on developing complex interventions to improve clinical practice (T3 gap) and strategies for sustained implementation of effective interventions for the benefit for populations (T4 gap). Useful guidance for the healthcare researcher includes the MRC Framework for the Development and Evaluation of Complex Interventions, and the Standards for Reporting Implementation Research. With examples from her work in respiratory and telehealth, Professor Hilary will describe the challenges (and rewards!) of developing, evaluating and implementing complex healthcare interventions.
