Supported self-management starts from the premise that patients are already responsible for decisions about their healthcare, from adopting healthy lifestyles (or not); whether (or not) to use medication (and what treatment to take); if/when and from whom to seek clinical advice. Our role as healthcare providers is to support people to make decisions that will improve their quality of life and reduce risks.
