On the 7th March 2019, the Pharmacotherapeutics Unit in Collaboration with PLT Scientific Sdn Bhd organized a seminar on the latest advancements in Western Blot imaging and detection technology, and explore the trending applications and alternatives to western blotting. A total of 40 participants comprising students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences participated in this programme.
During the seminar period, the participants were focused on imaging and detection technology in Western Blot including the topics on Fluorescence vs Chemiluminesence Blots, Laser Scanner vs CCD Camera Detection,Understanding Digital Data and trending applications in Western Blot. This seminar was delivered by the Regional Specialist from Azure Biosystems.
Participants also having chance for Q & A session and the programme ended with a hands-on session which held at Pharmacotherapeutics Laboratory.

The seminar involves the supplier from PLT Scientific Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the Pharmacotherapeutics Unit, Medical Department. 40 participants from the students of Faculty Medicine and Health Sciences joined the seminar whereby they targeted the students who using the Western Blot technique in their research.
IMPACTS OF THE PROGRAMMETwo ways communication during the seminar had given the participants an open opportunity to learn as much as possible about the latest advancements in detection and imaging technology of Western Blot. On top of that, the hands-on session during the seminar helped them to gain knowledge and a rough planning for their research activities.
CONCLUSION
The exposure on the advancements in Western Blot imaging and detection technology helped the participants for a better understanding especially on the research planning. Students are able to learn the advancements imaging and detection technology in Western Blot and compared it them with the previous one.
