Background

DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN ANATOMY

Department of Human Anatomy was initially the Anatomy Unit in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. Since the year 2005, the Anatomy Unit was established and became the Department of Human Anatomy to cater to the preclinical teaching for the Medical Doctor Program (year 1 until year 3). In addition, the department also plays a pivotal role in research and clinical science teaching for the Biomedical Science Program and Nursing Program.

The department consists of three main academic units namely:

1. Anatomy Unit
2. Pharmacology Unit
3. Physiology Unit

Having its administration office located on the ground floor of Administration Block A, the department is also equipped with a few laboratories including:

1. Laboratory of Preclinical Skill I (Anatomy Museum) (Level 1, Block A)
2. Research Laboratory of Anatomy and Histology 1 (MPAH 1) (Level G, Laboratory Block D)
3. Research Laboratory of Anatomy and Histology 2 (MPAH 2) (Level 6, Laboratory Block a)
4. Human Dissection Hall (ADH) (Level G, Laboratory Block C)
5. Anatomy Laboratory (Level G, Laboratory Block C)
6. Anatomy Workshop (Level G, Laboratory Block D)
7. Tissue culture Laboratory (Level G, Laboratory Block D)
8. Animal Behavioral Laboratory (Level G, opposite Animal House Building)

To date, the department consists of 50 staff under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cheah Pike See.
