SERDANG, 25 July - The Communication and Visibility Unit (UKK) organized the 2024 Media Expertise Article Writing Workshop for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK) at the Main Meeting Room (BMU), FPSK. The workshop aimed to guide participants on writing articles based on their areas of expertise using simpler and more systematic techniques, while also achieving the target of quality publications and increasing readership of articles on the faculty's website.

   A total of 23 academic staff members from FPSK attended the workshop. Participants were required to bring their own computers for the article writing session during the program. The participants' articles will be published on the media expertise article section of the FPSK website and uploaded to the FPSK Social Media (MEDSOS).

   Associate Professor Dr. Rahmat Dapari, who opened the program, provided a briefing on the techniques for writing articles for the website and achieving popular writing. Actual articles on the FPSK website were used as a guide to facilitate appropriate referencing for participants. He also emphasized that the readers who visit the website come from various fields, so articles should be written in general terms and concepts to ensure easy comprehension. Participants were also reminded not to touch on sensitive issues such as 3R (Race, Religion, Royalty) and political matters.

   In the afternoon, the article writing workshop was conducted by Professor Dr. Sarjit Singh Gill Darshan Singh from the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEM), UPM, as a guest speaker. He presented on "Media Engagement and Popular Writing," emphasizing that articles shared on the faculty's website are suitable for publication on other platforms like newspapers and magazines. Significant impact can be achieved from this type of popular writing.

   This workshop provided participants with knowledge on the necessary steps for preparing media expertise articles. Associate Professor Dr. Rahmat Dapari also announced that the Faculty of Engineering, UPM, has added a link to FPSK articles on their Read@Eng webpage. This clearly shows that the writing on the FPSK website has been recognized by other faculties. It is hoped that this effort will encourage and increase in the number of readers of articles on the FPSK website.
