Signing Ceremony on the Continuation of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Between Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universitas Malahayati, Bandar Lampung, Indonesia

On December 16, 2019, a signing of the continuation of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was held between Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universitas Malahayati (UNMAL), Bandar Lampung, Indonesia at the Rectorate Building, UNMAL. UPM was represented by the Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, YBhg. Professor Dr. Zamberi Sekawi accompanied by Dr. Shaharuddin Mohd Sham, Senior Lecturer, Department of Environment and Occupational Health, while the Rector, YTH Dr. Achmad Farich represents UNMAL. The ceremony was witnessed by the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, YTH Dr. Toni Prasetia, dr., Sp.PD., FINASIM and Dean, Faculty of Public Health, YTH dr. Muharso, SKM. In addition, 15 UNMAL representatives attended the event. The continuation of the MoU signified a close bond and friendship between the two institutions of higher learning.

Later, the two sides discussed ways to further enhancing existing cooperation, such as research and the production of articles for mutual benefit. In addition, plans are underway for the co-ordination of an international conference to be led by UNMAL. The delegation then visited the library complex located on the upper floor of the dormitory. The UNMAL Library is the only university of higher learning that houses examples of indigenous houses from every province in Indonesia. Next, the UPM delegation visited the Pertamina Bintang Amin Hospital (RSPBA) located next to the UNMAL building. The RSPBA has previously welcomed several groups of UPM students who have undertaken practical training there.

The delegation was welcomed by the Director, PT. Pertamedika, YTH dr. Rachmawat, MPH, Deputy Director (SDM & UMUM), YTH Mr Eko Budi, SE., MPH., Deputy Director PT. Bintang Amin (Medical), dr. To Wijayanto, SpTHT and Deputy Director (Finance), YTH Ibu Riyanti., SP., MKes. Initial remarks was given by YTH Dr. R Agung Efriyo Hadi, head of management team, RSPBA, while information on RSPBA history and operations was presented by YTH dr. Rachmawat. Before leaving, the delegation visited several sections of the hospital, including the Hemodialysis Room and A&E. It is hoped that close ties between UPM and UNMAL will be enhanced in the future by organizing various programs that will benefit both institutions of higher learning.
