Science officer

UPM as a leading Research Universiti in Malaysia, is committed to provide the best facilities and services to its clients not only in the field of research but also in teaching and services. The availability and demand in high technologies scientific instruments and new methodologies to assist in teaching, research and service in the laboratories make the role of Science Officers in the management of scientific laboratories in Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences very important.  Besides administer the lab effectively, Science Officers must deliver guidance, advice and some training regards to labs and science instruments to clients with good communication skills to make sure the Key Performance Index of FPSK is achievable. Under the administration of science and technology, head by Dean and Deputy Registrar, Scientific Officers are divided into several sections such as laboratory quality control, teaching labs function, research lab functions, operational service administration, laboratories equipment charge administration and centralise laboratories need section with below job scopes:

The functions of this section are as follows:

1. To ensure the teaching labs management run smoothly via centralization of chemicals and purchasing.
2. To coordinate and monitor the budgetary allocations for calibration of research equipment in order to make sure the research labs instruments are calibrated and well-maintained
3. To ensure the implementation and management of quality systems in all laboratories is progressing smoothly and effectively.
4. To coordinate the operational services management in the laboratories that offer services.
5. To coordinate and ensure the management of analysis, rental dan services of lab equipment run smoothly
6. To manage or handle scientific equipment and/or methodologies in support of others’ research or teaching
