Previously, Department of Imaging is an imaging unit which was placed under the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. In the beginning of 2006, the unit was upgraded to the Department of Imaging and the operation was fully based in Serdang Campus. The department aspires to be the forefront of Radiology Education, Research and Center of Excellence in providing the best services with advanced diagnostic equipment and imaging art. The department also plans to establish a Reference Center for “Forensic Radiology”, “Cardiac Radiology” and “Pediatric Radiology” in the near future. The department with its dedication is willing to provide safe, patient-oriented, efficient and cost-effective services in radiology. In addition, the department is also interested in promoting continuous medical learning including training and research in radiology field.

in 2020, the name of Department of Imaging change to Department of Radiology as same as University Hospital Universiti Putra Malaysia (HPUPM).
