DOCTOR OF MEDICINE
The Department of Paediatrics offers two main courses in the Doctor of Medicine Program:
a) MDR3219: Introductory Paediatrics (Year 4)
This course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of paediatrics, covering an introduction to general paediatrics, skills in patient history taking and basic techniques of physical examination in children. Students are also exposed to various paediatric subspecialties and undergo community-based learning visits at maternal and child health clinics.
This course encompasses introduction to general paediatrics, basic skills of history taking and reinforcement of basic examination techniques in the context of paediatric patients. The student may also be exposed to various disciplines of paediatric subspecialities and community-based maternal and child health centre.
b) MDR3220: Advanced Paediatrics (Year 5)
This course emphasizes comprehensive clinical management of paediatric patients, including history taking, physical examination, a rational approach to investigations, disease management and therapeutic procedures in the paediatric clinic and wards. This course also covers the field of neonatology.
