September 27, Serdang - The Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences (FMHS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) held an Inaugural Lecture in the Main Lecture Hall. The Inaugural Lecture was delivered by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Sazlina Shariff Ghazali from the Department of Family Medicine, FMHS, which was entitled Empowering Older Persons for Healthy Aging: Prioritizing Health Needs.

 YBhg. Dato' Prof. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, Vice Chancellor (VC) in his capacity as the Ceremony Chairman, YBhg. Prof. Dr.  Zamberi Sekawi, Deputy VC of Research and Innovation of UPM, faculty Dean, Heads of Departments, academic staff, other responsibility centres, and students from the Department of Family Medicine were among the 146 attendees at the Inaugural Lecture. Prof. Sazlina's family also attended this occasion. A copy of the book on YBhg. Prof.'S Inaugural Lecture was given to the guests as a memento.

 The title of the lecture that YBhg. Prof. delivered emphasized the importance of empowering health, particularly for the elderly, by highlighting their specific health needs. Various health-related facts were shared with the inaugural guests, making them more cognizant on the need to make health-related preparations before they aged.

 In addition to the lecture, brother Mohd Sideq, a staff member of the Department of Family Medicine, entertained the audience with a silat performance. Brother Muhammad Azim from the Office of the Deputy Dean of Health Sciences also honored the occasion with a poetry recitation.

 The Inaugural Lecture ceremony conducted face-to-face specifically for academic officials who have been appointed to the status of Professor. This lecture provided the opportunity for them to present their work and research to the invited guests.
