Serdang 15 May – The Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences (FPSK), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) held an Inaugural Lecture Ceremony which took place at the Main Lecture Hall (DKU), FPSK, UPM. The Inaugural Lecture this time was delivered by YBhg. Prof. Dr. Chan Yoke Mun from the Department of Dietetics, FPSK which was titled Nutrition for Resilient Ageing: Optimised Protein Strategies for Sarcopenia Prevention.

The Inaugural Lecture was attended online and in person by 556 people, including YBhg. Prof. Dr. Zamberi Sekawi as the Chairman of the Council, YBhg Prof. Dr. Barakatun Nisak ​​Mohd Yusof representing the Dean of the Faculty, Heads of Departments, faculty staff and other PTJ as well as students from the Department of Dietetics. The ceremony was also attended by Prof. Chan's family including her beloved husband. As a gift and a memento to the guests present, YBhg. Prof gave a copy of his Inaugural Lecture book.

The topic presented by YBhg. Prof. was focused on empowering health by emphasizing health needs with prevention from the very beginning and emphasizing the importance of optimal and balanced protein intake in every meal. Various data on nutritional deficiencies were also displayed to the guests present so that they would be more aware and sensitive about health preparations with the theme of prevention being better than cure.

Apart from the lecture, the event was also enlivened by a short drama performance by students from the Department of Dietetics with the theme of Sarcopenia Prevention. This performance featured the differences between individuals who consume protein and those who do not pay attention to food and the implications that occur.

This Inaugural Lecture is a face-to-face lecture held specifically for academic officers who have been appointed to the position of Professor. This lecture provides them with the opportunity to deliver lectures related to the work and research they have done to invited guests and share their experiences throughout their service at UPM in particular.
