Department of Medical Microbiology

The Department of Medical Microbiology was established on 1st June 2006 to conduct teaching and research in the field of medical microbiology and parasitology for medical and health sciences students. The two major units in the department; Unit of Medical Microbiology and Unit of Medical Parasitology and Entomology were previously known as active components of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences (1999).  The mission of the department is to provide knowledge and understanding to medical and health sciences students in its fields of expertise. The department serves the teaching mission of the university by educating undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, entomology and also on host-pathogen interactions besides heavily involves in scientific research in line with the university status as one of the major research universities in Malaysia.
